William C. Stone, DVM, MS, MBA, Diplomate ACVS

Veterinarian, Owner

Dr. Stone (Bill) is a native Texan, born at Fort Hood, Texas a few yesterday’s past. He interned at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery. Upon completion of the internship he returned to Katy, and became an associate at Katy Equine Clinic, owned and operated at the time by Dr. Mike Heitmann.

Kai DeVoglaer

Veterinarian, Associate

Dr. Kai DeVoglaer is thrilled to be joining Katy Equine as an associate veterinarian! An Austin native, Kai grew up riding hunter/jumpers, . Following graduation from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine Dr. DeVoglaer completed a one-year internship at Rhinebeck Equine in the Hudson Valley of New York. Dr. DeVoglaer, along with her husband, Nick, and their dog, Delilah, is delighted to be back in Texas, bringing her experience and knowledge back to the community she grew up in.

Paola Cavazos

Paola grew up in Needville, Tx with a love for animals. She had many pets over the years, but at 15 she purchased her first horse. From there, her passion for the equine field grew. Paola graduated from Needville High School in 2021 and pursued an associates degree in in veterinary technology from the Vet Tech Institute of Houston which she completed in 2022. Paola joined the Katy Equine Clinic Team for her externship, and stayed on with the clinic full-time after its completion.

In her free time Paola enjoys spending time with her family, friends and pets. She also loves to travel and enjoys trying new things!

Heather Howland

Heather has been active in the equestrian community for 20 years and is an active hunter/jumper competitor. She prides herself on being a horseman first, and has teched in the industry for 6 years. Heather enjoys riding/training her hunter Laurent and jumper Bode at Topline Sporthorses as well as spending time with her retired jumpers Tulle and BB.

Office Staff/Veterinary Technician

Caitlin Heller, LVT

Caitlin supports Katy Equine Clinic remotely from North Carolina. Caitlin has extensive experience assisting with equine surgery, sports medicine and general equine veterinary care. Caitlin grew up in the United States Pony Clubs doing everything from Eventing and dressage to mounted games. Currently, she has a quarter horse of her own that she uses for barrel racing and cattle sorting.

Support Staff

Lucille Estes

An avid horseman from the get go, her momma couldn’t keep her away from the ponies. Lucille ran barrels and still occasionally wears the buckle she won in competition. Her daughter followed right in her footsteps. Lucille’s mantel is full of her daughter’s trophies competing in FFA and rodeo speed events.

Lucille has been married to John Estes for over 38 years. And they’ve been customers of Katy Equine almost as long. They have two pampered retired horses, April and Aurora and have just acquired a new horse, Peanut, that is making Lucille look forward to being back in the saddle again. “Just for trail riding”, she says.

She’s a Texas country girl and embraces all that it means. She takes care of Katy Equine with her heart and soul.
